Welcome From the Head of the Junior School
I hope you find this website an informative and welcoming first glance at our school.
Children are happiest when their school work excites them, when they are recognised for their achievements and supported if needed, when they feel safe, and when they have time to play. At St Lawrence College we take great care to support each child, nurturing them to reach their potential in all aspects of school life as they move through Pre-Prep and into Prep and beyond.
With spacious grounds, wonderful resources and a dedicated staff team we leave no stone unturned to find out what motivates your child, offering them an innovative range of lessons and experiences.
We aim to build a firm foundation and give children a head start, teaching them to listen, co-operate, concentrate, think and express themselves. Even at Nursery level, our children begin to benefit from specialist teaching which adds an extra dimension to learning throughout the school as a whole. A structured phonics programme puts a strong emphasis on reading and writing skills, ensuring that most pupils exceed expectations. We are ambitious for every child and are proud of our excellent academic record. Personal attention is given within small classes where talents are recognized and needs are catered for.
I do hope that you will come and visit us at St Lawrence College Junior School.

Explore Lawrence College Pre-Prep:
The Reception Class is an engaging and stimulating environment, where lots of opportunities for purposeful play combined with a mix of planned practical and more formal teaching. In Years 1 and 2, teaching and learning become more formal as children develop confidence in their skills and knowledge and become increasingly independent learners.
Our Pre-Prep children enjoy our wonderful Forest School adventures curriculum and have the opportunity to attend weekly swimming lessons in our indoor heated pool.
Pastoral care is our highest priority. Our teachers are fully involved in life in and out of the classroom and this enables them to know and support all our pupils.
We recognise the importance of being active and living a healthy balanced life. We have produced a carefully tailored P.E. curriculum that allows our children to engage in a rich and varied experience and also offer in house LAMDA where speech and drama skills are developed, leading to examinations and performance opportunities at local festivals.
