International Families

St Lawrence College is proud to be home to a vibrant international boarding community, with students hailing from all corners of the globe. Our overseas pupils make up nearly 30% of our total student population, enriching our school with diverse cultures and perspectives. While most of these students are boarders, a few reside locally with their families and join us as day pupils.

Our international boarders are fully integrated into the academic and pastoral life at St Lawrence. They actively participate in our extensive sports and activities programmes, contributing to and benefiting from the rich educational experience we offer.

We warmly welcome families from around the world and are dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition into our community. The Admissions Team is here to support you every step of the way, offering initial calls to introduce you to our School, as well as arranging meetings with our Academic, Pastoral, or Boarding teams. This helps families gain a comprehensive understanding of what St Lawrence has to offer. We are also always available to host tours and warmly welcome families to visit at any time throughout the year.

At St Lawrence College, diversity and cultural representation are celebrated, creating a dynamic and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

Required Documents

Please include a copy of your child’s most recent school report and their passport along with the Registration Form.

Interview and Assessments

Your child will then have a friendly interview and complete two assessment papers in Maths and English—or in EAL if English isn’t their first language. These assessments are not a pass or fail test; rather, they help us gain a deeper understanding of your child’s current academic levels and how they might fit within their year group. If anything stands out, we’ll discuss it with you at this stage.

Following this, our Admissions Team will reach out to your child’s current school for a School Reference or, if applicable, a Suitability for Boarding Reference.

Visa Process

Pupils from outside the UK will require a Tier 4 visa prior to entering the UK and studying at the School. St Lawrence College works alongside Newland Chase to complete all Student visas and ensure St Lawrence College meets all of its UKVI requirements. All costs associated with the application process and subsequently costs will be charged directly by Newland Chase.

Optional Taster Day

We offer a delightful taster session, where your child can spend a day with us to experience life at St Lawrence College. It’s a wonderful way for everyone to get to know each other better.  Throughout the day, we’ll keep you updated on how your child is settling in, and we’ll share photos of their activities and experiences.

Formal Offer and Acceptance

After reviewing the admissions process, offers are made under the guidance of the Head of College. To secure your child’s place, simply return the Acceptance Form and pay the deposit, completing the final step of the entry process.

FCE and TOEFL can also be prepared, if necessary.

English as an Additional Language (EAL) charges of £569 per term apply from Year 10 to Upper Sixth Form.
