On 12th October, St Lawrence College hosted our Senior School Open Morning, offering prospective students and their families a glimpse into the vibrant life of the school. The event was designed to give visitors the opportunity to explore the campus, participate in engaging activities, and meet the teachers and students who make our award-winning school such a supportive and inspiring community.
The day began with a warm reception in Taylor Hall, where the school’s talented musicians set the tone with live performances. Our Head of College, Barney Durrant, delivered an inspiring speech, outlining the unique opportunities St Lawrence College offers and our commitment to nurturing each individual. This was followed by an insightful Q&A session, where three Senior School students, including our Head of School, shared their personal experiences. The students spoke eloquently on a range of topics, from academic challenges to extracurricular pursuits, providing valuable insights for the attending families.
Afterward, families embarked on personalised tours of the campus, guided by our dedicated prefects. These tours offered a firsthand look at both academic and extracurricular opportunities. Each department hosted interactive activities, such as the crowd-pleasing Robot Wars, which added a memorable and dynamic element to the day.
The tours concluded with a delightful lunch in Kirby House, our dedicated boarding and day house for Year 7 and 8 students. This gave parents and children a chance to experience the welcoming environment where many students begin their Senior School journey.
To round off the morning, a scholarship information session took place, explaining the range of opportunities offered from Sports, Arts, Drama and Academic. This provided prospective families with valuable information about our scholarship process, application criteria, and the benefits of receiving a scholarship.
By the end of our Open Morning, families left with a clearer understanding of the enriching educational journey that awaits at St Lawrence College.
