Celebrating the Success of Old Lawrentian Dayo Elegbe 

St Lawrence College takes great pride in the achievements of its Old Lawrentians, and celebrating their success and innovation is a joy. Dayo Elegbe, has built a remarkable career at the forefront of digital transformation, and his accomplishments continue to inspire the St Lawrence College community. 

With a BSc (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from the University of Southampton and a Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Birmingham – both esteemed members of the UK’s Russell Group of universities – Dayo has combined analytical prowess with legal acumen to drive innovation in the digital space. 

His career began as the first graduate recruit and founding member of the digital marketing division at AGENCY.COM, then the world’s largest digital consultancy. There, he worked on pioneering projects with industry giants such as News International, British Airways, and Heineken, leading the UK’s first mobile-based activation in 2000. 

Eager to explore the rapidly evolving world of mobile technology, Dayo transitioned client-side to Damovo (formerly Ericsson Enterprise), where he led customer acquisition strategies for the ICT leader. 

In 2008, he relocated to Lagos, taking on the challenge of building something from the ground up. As the founder of Sponge Group in 2009, Dayo established Nigeria’s leading mobile digital agency, delivering cutting-edge digital strategy and applications for major global brands including Etisalat, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Reckitt Benckiser, and Diageo. Under his leadership, Sponge became the country’s most successful and longest-standing agency in the sector. 

Dayo remains deeply connected to St Lawrence College, exemplifying the values of ambition and perseverance instilled during his time here. His recent visit to the College with his two daughters was a proud moment, as he shared his journey and reflected on how his formative years at St Lawrence helped shape his future. 

We are immensely proud of Dayo and all that he has achieved. His story serves as an inspiration to our current students and a testament to the strong foundation that St Lawrence College provides. We look forward to continuing to celebrate the successes of our Old Lawrentians and strengthening our global alumni network.
