Junior Boarding Blog – October

Over the past six weeks, our community has been swept up in a whirlwind of fun, friendship, and unforgettable experiences. From thrilling theme park adventures to enriching cultural exchanges and creative performances, the activities have not only entertained but also strengthened the bonds within our boarding house as we embark on a new academic year.

The excitement was palpable during the first week as boarders settled into Kirby and embraced life on our beautiful St Lawrence campus. Visits to the local park, engaging games of hide and seek, and beloved Sunday activities like dodgeball and badminton, along with friendly football matches on the pitch and cooking meals from each other’s home countries, made the transition to their new home seamless for all boarders.

Among the memorable highlights was the annual Kirby concert, where all Year 7 and 8 students, both day and boarding, came together to perform a song for the audience. Our boarders also enjoyed a visit from a London-based company that challenged them to design their own board games. Our junior boarders collaborated with remarkable maturity, ultimately earning the bragging rights for the most innovative and engaging board game concept.

An exeat trip to Thorpe Park provided a chance for all boarders to create cherished memories, filled with laughter and a bit of nervous excitement, as they tackled the rollercoasters and rides. In the final week of the half term, we warmly welcomed our immersion group from Bangkok to St Lawrence and Kirby boarding. This exchange offered our students and those from Bangkok the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of life on a global scale, enhancing their globalization skills. Blessed with favorable weather, the week included a delightful trip to the beach and a shopping excursion to ensure all students could contribute to the harvest service in the chapel, which beautifully concluded the half term.

We eagerly anticipate more exciting events in the weeks ahead and wish all our families and community members a restorative and enjoyable break.
