On a sunny Friday 14th June, children in Years 3-6 (Prep) enjoyed their annual Junior School Sports Day. The delightful weather set the perfect scene for an afternoon of athletics, camaraderie, and celebration. Parents enjoyed traditional servings of Pimm’s and strawberries as the excitement for the races built up.

The event was marked by exceptional team spirit and remarkable performances. In the running events, Florence Pyfrom showed great promise with her impressive runs. She clocked 16.50 seconds in the 100m, narrowly missing the school record of 16.43 seconds. She also completed the 200m in 34.84 seconds, just shy of the record 33.81 seconds. Samuel Sowunmi set a new school record in the 100m, finishing in 15.19 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 16.12 seconds. He also ran the 200m in 33.21 seconds, close to the school record of 32.61 seconds. The relay races were a highlight of the day, with Waymouth House clinching victory in both the Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 4x50m relays.

Waymouth House emerged as the overall winners, securing the House Champions Trophy and dominating both relay races, Sutton House taking second place and Fiske House coming in third.

The day concluded on a high note with everyone singing ‘Sweet Caroline’ at the top of their lungs. A special round of applause was dedicated to Mr James Marsh, Head of PE and boys games, for his exceptional organisation of the event, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable afternoon for all. And congratulations to all the children for their enthusiasm and effort, making this Sports Day a resounding success!
