Senior Sports Day

Posted: 25th May 2024

On Friday 24th May, our Senior School pupils, staff and families, gathered at the Newlands Sports Fields to participate in their annual Senior School Sports Day. The event kicked off at 11:15am and featured a variety of track and field events, showcasing the students’ athleticism and teamwork.

The morning began with 800m races for girls and boys, followed by six 200m races for girls and boys across different age groups: Year 7-8 (Kirby), Years 9-11 (Junior), and Years 12-13 (Senior). The girls then tackled the 300m race, while the boys competed in the 400m race. After a midday break, the pupils took part in the 1500m race, as well as six 100m races for girls and boys across different age groups.

The highlight of the day was the relay races, which included events such as 4x400m and 4x200m relay for both boys and girls. The field events also drew a large crowd, with pupils competing in long jump, shot, high jump, discus, triple jump, and javelin. The atmosphere was electric, with students cheering on their friends and Houses.

The day came to a close at 1:15pm, with pupils and teaching staff embarking on a well-deserved May Half Term break.
