With faces adorned with cheerful face paints and sporting coloured shirts denoting their year groups, our Junior School runners were very excited this morning as they prepared for the Junior School Cross Country.
The races commenced with a sense of anticipation, as each group lined up at the start line, ready to navigate the cross country course on the Junior School back field. Staff members were strategically positioned along the route, offering encouragement to the runners as they passed by.
As the children crossed the finish line, they were greeted with applause and directed to designated areas based on their year groups. Here, stickers were distributed to recognise their efforts and medals were awarded to the top performers in each category.
Reflecting on the morning, Mr James Marsh, Head of PE and Boys Games, said “Although we were a little concerned about the weather beforehand, I am delighted that we actually had a beautiful sunny morning, it all flowed smoothly from start to finish, and everyone from our littlest children in Nursery to our Year 6 pupils had a fantastic morning. The Junior School Cross Country event is not just about competition; it’s about promoting a love for physical activity and fostering a sense of teamwork among our children. It was a fitting end to a busy PE calendar during our Lent Term!”
The final results were:
1st Fikse House with 138 points
2nd Sutton House with 124 points
3rd Waymouth with 114 points
Well done to all the children who took part and many thanks to Mr Marsh and all the teachers who helped run the Inter House Big Run.
