On Saturday 30th September St Lawrence College Junior School hosted our annual football tournament. With Upton, Holy Trinity, Palm Bay, St Saviour’s and reigning champions St Peter’s in attendance it was sure to be a wonderful morning of football.
All players were excited and eager to start, so with the sun shining we kicked off. St Lawrence fielded two teams and our second team finished their group, in third place, narrowly missing out in the knockout stage. Our first team topped their group by winning all matches and not conceding a goal, even beating defending champions St Peter’s.
In the knockout stage however they drew 0-0 to St Saviour’s who eventually won on penalties. St Saviour’s then went on to draw 0-0 against St Peter’s, but beat them on penalties. So, without actually ever scoring a goal in open play St Saviour’s were the overall winners.
Well done to all the children who took part and our great thanks must go to Mr Marsh, Head of PE and Boys Games, and his team for organising a fantastic tournament.
