All students from the experience at the RAF and CCF Summer Camp

A small group of  St Lawrence College pupils from the CCF & RAF, joined 5 other schools from across the UK to spend a week living and visiting various sections of the RAF Valley in Anglesey, which is the RAF’s fast jet training facility.

Mr Brown, who was previously in the RAF and is now a Junior School teacher here, commented, “The cadets had a fabulous time visiting all the residents flying units, including two Hawk T2 units and the Texan training aircraft unit, air traffic control, engineering sections and the Royal Navy helicopters. The pupils also completed a drill competition and parade which the Station Warrant Officer judged.  They were given the opportunity to take part in some adventure training in Snowdonia and hiking around Holy Island, which they loved. The pupils then enjoyed an afternoon of tutoring with flying instructors in the Hawk simulators.”

Year 10 pupil, Charlotte Welch commented, “It was great but the ejection seats weren’t very comfortable.”

Well done to Charlotte who finished the week as the most improved cadet and won a total of four awards over the week. A fantastic week had by all.
